The letter concerns the procurement of reeds or bamboo for building purposes from the location "Būrā". The building material is called ليمان, which is probably a rendering of the Oromo word 'leemana' (reed, bamboo), see Gragg, Oromo Dictionary, p. 263.
It is uncertain if the recipient, Ḥamāhu Allāh, is identical with Aḥmad al-Nūr b. Abī al-Faḍl al-Tiǧānī Ḥamāhu Allāh or with Abbā Ǧamāl b. Ḥāǧǧ Yūsuf Ḥamāhu Allāh.
