Biographic comments
He was a Harari saint whose tomb is located north of Harar, near Nazaro, where there was once a village named Walī Hāšim. He lived before the killing of the last Walašmaʻ sulṭān of Harar, Ḥabīb b. ʻUmardīn, in 1559. In some sources and secondary literature he is confused with the scholar šayḫ Hāšim b. ʻAbd al-ʻAzīz b. Amīr Hāšim.
