Persian physician of Christian origins. First mentioned at the sevice od Māzyār ibn Qārin, governor of Ṭabaristān; then he entered the caliphal service in Samarra. Possibly after 850, year in which he concluded his medical work, Firdaws al-ḥikma, he converted to Islam and wrote two anti-Christian works.
