Biographic comments
One of the pioneers of Islamic Studies in the Horn of Africa, his studies cover linguistics (Old Harari, Ǧanǧero, Somali), history and literature. His interest included not only Islamic texts, but went from the debated Islamic inspiration of Dante's Divine Comedy to Persian Theatre and Ethiopic Christian hagiology.
He had also administrative roles in the AOI (Governor of Shoa and of Harar) and in Iran (as ambassador).
