One of the most notorious exponents of the salafī. Despite his blindess (affecting him since his adolescence) he succeded in mastering a large number of Islamic sciences. He was the president of the first assembly of the Muslim World League. In 1992 he was appointed Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia.
