Biographic comments
Mālikī scholar, born in Iskandariyya, studied with Ibn Ḫaldūn in Cairo. He lived for a while in Damascus but returned soon to Egypt, where he acted as qāḍī. Later he traveled to Yemen and was teaching in Zabīd for about a year and then settled in India. He died in India in the city of Gulbarga.
